The Some Fracas of a Sissy E.P. is the latest release from Edinburgh-based pop mongers, FOUND. The E.P.’s title-track is the first single to be taken from recent album This Mess We Keep Reshaping (which was released on Fence Records late last year). This exclusive E.P. is being imported via German label Aufgeladen & Bereit, and features two brand new tracks - Alsation Gull Scene, and He Never Came Back. It will be available on limited release in the U.K. via Cargo and Fence Records.
The A-side, Alsation Gull Scene is propelled by titanic drums, tearing vocals, slap-happy banjo and FOUND’s trademark circuit-board, meltdown electronics. The song expresses songwriter Ziggy Campbell’s desire to leave the trappings of contemporary society and become the Queen of Aberdeen’s king-sized seagulls.
The AA-side, Some Fracas of a Sissy, opens with a groove that pays homage to the skills of hip hop producers such as Madlib and MF Doom. Mid-way through, the song disintegrates into a vintage gramophone sample and climaxes with a wild, psych-rock outro.
The EP is completed by He Never Came Back, a languid blend of beats, thumb piano and vocal harmonies.
