Format: Limited Edition 7"(White Vinyl)
Label: Fence Records [Scotland]
Released:November 2008

‘You’re Really Quite The Catch’ is the latest single from our bleep-hop boyband, FOUND – and finds the band in fighting pop form. Pinched from recent album This Mess We Keep Reshaping, the song has been tweaked a wee bit. It’s coming out on gorgeous white vinyl, and is backed with a remix by King Creosote.

On the A-Side, frontman Ziggy Campbell’s drunken slur is raspier than ever, and there’s now a female foil to his flirtation. These stunning backing vocals come courtesy of Lisa Lindley-Jones (British Sea Power, King Creosote, Jon Hopkins), and make for a match in heaven. You can sample a wee bit on the Fence Records MySpace page…

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO IT ON THE FENCE MYSPACE PAGE!

“I think me and you could last, cos you’re really quite the catch …”

The B-side, Admission Number 2 (King Creosote Admission Number 9 remix), gives a melancholy shuffle to the original (also taken from This Mess …). Label boss, King Creosote, provides the mix for this – and, in true KC style, opera samples abound, with weird synth and accordion swaying in the background …

The single is the sixth release in our Secret 7’s collection – and was given away FREE to all ticketholders of our upcoming Hallowe’en bash. If you didn’t manage to get a ticket, don’t worry – the single will be on sale from the Fence Webshop on November 3rd.

Format: Limited Edition 7"(Gray Vinyl)
Label: Aufgeladen Und Bereit [Germany]
Released:April 2008

The Some Fracas of a Sissy E.P. is the latest release from Edinburgh-based pop mongers, FOUND. The E.P.’s title-track is the first single to be taken from recent album This Mess We Keep Reshaping (which was released on Fence Records late last year). This exclusive E.P. is being imported via German label Aufgeladen & Bereit, and features two brand new tracks – Alsation Gull Scene, and He Never Came Back. It will be available on limited release in the U.K. via Cargo and Fence Records.

The A-side, Alsation Gull Scene is propelled by titanic drums, tearing vocals, slap-happy banjo and FOUND’s trademark circuit-board, meltdown electronics. The song expresses songwriter Ziggy Campbell’s desire to leave the trappings of contemporary society and become the Queen of Aberdeen’s king-sized seagulls.

The AA-side, Some Fracas of a Sissy, opens with a groove that pays homage to the skills of hip hop producers such as Madlib and MF Doom. Mid-way through, the song disintegrates into a vintage gramophone sample and climaxes with a wild, psych-rock outro.

The EP is completed by He Never Came Back, a languid blend of beats, thumb piano and vocal harmonies.

FOUND and Make Model will collaborate to transform the space (which was an ex Territorial Army drill hall) into a stunning stage set using a unusual mix of digital and analogue projections, lights and mirrors.

FOUND have also managed to find time in their increasing busy schedule to produce an exclusive and inventive remix of Make Model’s latest single ‘The Was’. The remix has been specially pressed onto limited edition 7″ vinyl and will be given away to the audience for free.

The influence of the late, great Tony Wilson is ever present with both bands paying homage to the Factory Records style of cataloging every project they do. This event is FND039 / MMFS007.

Sumptuous orange vinyl, released by German scociapaths Aufgeladen Und Bereit.

Synth Like Minds is the third 7″ single to be released from FOUND’s debut album Found Can Move. Like many classic pop songs, Synth Like Minds is an ode to two early speech synthesisers built in the 60s called PAT and OVE. The inspiration for the song came from the Linguistics department of Edinburgh University where FOUND’s singer Ziggy Campbell works as a sound engineer. It was here that Ziggy unearthed a rare recording of the two speech synthesisers ‘singing’ a duet of the traditional song ‘The More We Are Together’ and was moved to compose a tribute.

Pressed on vibrant orange vinyl, the record comes with two brand-new b-sides: the dark and moody interlude Pedro Had To Leave and the wonky Prince-inspired funk of The Very Fabric.

Original Proposal for Flight Path which took place at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh in February 2006 as part of their Boby Parts Performance Arts Festival.

It is now possible to listen to live broadcasts of American air traffic control communications over the internet. (http://www.futurastudios.com/atc.html)

FOUND would like to use a live ’stream’ from a busy American airport as the basis for a live performance. FOUND will perform specially composed music in reaction to the air traffic control ’stream’. Part of the composition will be predetermined and part will be improvised.

FOUND will use field recordings made at Edinburgh Airport to form part of the composition.

Each member of the audience will be given several sheets of card and asked to make paper aeroplanes that they will throw over FOUND as they perform. At the back of the gallery / performance space there will be a series of sensors. If the paper aeroplanes land on these sensors they will trigger sounds and alter elements of the composition. This will allow the audience the possibility to contribute to the music and take away a level of control from FOUND.

The performance will last a maximum of 30 minutes.
